Ma piuttosto, una volta ascoltate dite che ne parliamo qui? @The Silent Man detti le regole, che ho un paio di curiosità da togliermi.

 

Direi che sarebbe bello poter parlare finalmente di qualcosa che si sta ascoltando per la prima volta, piuttosto che di qualcosa che non si ascolterà mai (come è successo fino a ieri)!

Concordo ma sai, non vorrei mai che fossi messo in difficoltà.

Anyway, allora ti faccio una domanda: questa Tonight I Will Be King è in sostanza una "versione definitiva" di Isle of the Kings, giusto?
Solo perché fino ad ora ero stato convinto fossero proprio due pezzi separati.

Tonight I will be the King.
Ascoltata! Qualità audio molto buona. Non da cd ma da ottimo demo. Quindi niente fruscii, volumi sfasati, imperfezioni, scatti etc. etc.
Il pezzo è la versione sviluppata di quella "Island Of The Kings" che era apparsa su youtube qualche anno fà (che si sentiva male, frusciante e registrata probabilmente in presa diretta).
Le differenze tra le due sono il testo del ritornello e tutta la parte elettrica che nella versione embrionale mancava.
Come Larry Elbows, Desiree e Stay è un gran bel pezzo che avrebbe ben figurato su Streets. Come quest'ultime, non avrebbe alzato la qualità finale dell'album (come te lo possono fare una Believe, una Tonight He Grins Again o una If I Go Away) ma l'avrebbe mantenuta costate.
Un piacere INDIMENTICABILE ascoltare l'assolo di Criss inedito!

La risposta è meno immediata di quanto pensi e quando avrai ascoltato tutto il materiale (perchè ce n'è ancora tanto e molto interessante) avrai una visione più completa, ma per il momento vedila come dice @Kaine :

Per me è naturale pensare che da quella grezza versione demo di Island Of The Kings si sia sviluppata Tonight I Will Be King nella forma in cui la stiamo ascoltando ("la stiamo" perchè io stesso l'ho ascoltata poco più di un paio di volte).

Segnalazione importante. Sta emergendo materiale video interessante ultimamente.
Una delle fonti con cui ho preso contatto ha in vendita una discreta quantità di concerti e video su DVD. Anche quello è materiale da ottenere.

 

io vorrei in dvd o bootleg l 'intero concerto con jon del 92..l'ultimo con criss dico.

Jon's Farewell Show

This is a live recording from a concert in Tampa in 1992 known as The Farewell show because it was the last show where Jon Oliva fronted the band for a whole concert and it was supposed to be his last concert with Savatage. That is all the facts I have from the VHS tape I traded back in the day. It is also the last concert with Jon and Criss Oliva (R.I.P.) together.

The camera movement is terrible but the show is very special and fortunately the sound is ok. The only good thing about the camera movement is that fact that the viewer gets to feel as part of the audience, no seriously, there is nothing good about it. This is for fans only

The sound of the show, Jon's inspired performance and Criss Oliva's guitar playing is enough to sustain me for the two hours the show is on. Jon's constant adlibbing and joking is extremely entertaining too. Jon has a knack for changing the lyrics of songs in the most convincing and funny way, Strange Reality comes to mind. Most importantly the set list is a dream setlist for me with songs I have never heard or found live anywhere else.

Classic moments are scattered all over the show. Here are a few:

- The ending of Agony and Ecstasy "If you ever need me, I'll be at the bar"
- A very cool moment arrives with The Dungeons Are Calling where Keith Collins takes over the bass and the original Savatage is reunited to the sound of an excellent version of Dungeons... Note Criss Oliva's brilliant solo introduction to City Beneath The Surface.
- Jon announces that Streets is probably the last Savatage album.
- This is probably the only show where Jon Oliva has said "You kick butt!!" to the audience. Through the show he is having a hard time not swearing as it is being broadcast on the radio.
- A personal highlight is If I Go Away, not only because it is my all-time favorite song, but because the delivery here is just brilliant and magical. Forever is a long time they say, but this song truly is eternal.
- The first verse of 24 Hours Ago where Bon Jovi is incorporated into the lyrics in the funniest way.
- Introducing A Little Too Far with the words "This song goes to the guys in the band because they are assholes"
- The hauntingly magical performance of Summer's Rain and THAT guitar solo.

Sadly my tape cuts out right at the beginning of what Jon has announced is the last song of the show, When The Crowds are Gone. Watching this whole show, it is a major letdown not to have the ending, but still worth it. I checked on the web and it looks like Sirens and Unusual were to follow Crowds...

What I wouldn't give to have this show in proper video quality and including the final songs, so if anyone out there has it, please let me know. This is the best thing I have, so here you go.

Queste tracce sono quelle che avrebbero dovuto completare il doppio album di streets immagino, sapresti anche dove sarebbero collocate nella storia?
Sai, sarei tentato di farmi uno Street Plus come l'avevano in mente gli Oliva e O'Neill in principio

 

Appoggio la mozione, ho anch'io una playlist di Streets as it was meant to be, queste aggiunte saranno preziose.

È un'idea che avevo abbozzato anche io e mi ero appuntato l'ordine dei brani in base alle varie liner notes raccolte, ma mi mancano notizie su ciascuno dei brani scartati.
Nella storia originale When The Crowds Are Gone doveva essere tra i primi 4 o 5 brani e Stay nella prima metà del disco; posso farvi sapere un ordine più preciso rispolverando alcuni appunti (e magari poi aggiorno la pagina Wikipedia).
Forse ascoltando i testi di ciascun brano ci si può fare un'idea, ma non abbiamo elementi a sufficienza. In assenza di O'Neill, ci vorrebbe una chiacchierata con l'autore delle liner notes presenti sulle ristampe SPV.
