Ciao, dove lo hai letto? Sono molto interessato. Ho dato un'occhiata al sito della TSO ma c'è un buco nel calendario delle date europee proprio in corrispondenza del 31 dicembre (in verità il tour europeo inizia i primi di gennaio).

La trovi sul web la notizia e sul profilo di Chris se non sbaglio, in Facebook, ma ti riporto il testo:

"Trans-Siberian Orchestra have confirmed they’ll play a unique concert at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on New Year’s Eve.

The show will be performed in front of 1,000,000 fans and will be shown to millions more live on German TV in a broadcast titled Willkommen 2014: Silvester am Brandenburger Tor.

The landmark gate became one of the icons of the Cold War era as it stood in isolation near the Berlin Wall. Its 18th-century stonework, badly damaged during the Second World War, was restored to its former glory during the last decade.

TSO’s triumphant German appearance comes just days ahead of their first UK shows in three years, when they play Manchester O2 Apollo on January 10 and London Hammersmith Eventim Apollo the following night. Those appearances kick off the band’s European winter tour.

Mainman Paul O’Neill, together with collaborators Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli, have released five studio albums and played to more than 10million people since forming the band in 1993.

They’ll release their first ever compilation album, Tales Of Winter: Selections From The TSO Rock Operas, on November 18. It’s followed by a Christmas single, Sarajevo 12/24, on December 16. The track was inspired by musician Vedran Smailovic, known as ‘the Cellist of Sarajevo’, who played his instrument in ruined buildings during the Bosnian War."

Nell'articolo non sono menzionati biglietti, per cui immagino che sia ad accesso gratuito (anche perché transennare tutta la zona di Unter den Linden, sotto i festeggiamenti, non è roba da poco). Forse si esibiranno in un set ridotto, nel contesto di una festa più ampia? Comunque anche solo per 30 minuti ne vale la pena, tra il loro spettacolo e i fuochi pirotecnici dev'essere fantastico.

 

La compilation l'avevo adocchiata, ma sono curioso di sapere cos'è il singolo e, soprattutto, che b-sides ci sono.

 

Beato te, penso anche io sia gratuito, ma sarà un vero spettacolo!

@SilentMan: non ne ho idea, è una notizia che non ha avuto molta pubblicità da quanto ho visto, quindi non riesco ad approfondire..

 

Peccato per le temperature polari che ci saranno. Quelle smontano in partenza. Altrimenti sarebbe un ottima idea per capodanno.
A Berlino fà freddissimo specialmente d'inverno!

 

Purtroppo ci sono abituato, sono là circa una volta all'anno in visita ai miei zii. La città è splendida ma il tempo... ballerino (e quando ci si mette, un freddo cane!).

 

Leggevo un'interessante intervista di Music Street Journal del 2007 in cui già si parlava di una ultima uscita Savatage in lavorazione:

MSJ: I heard about the possibility of Savatage 25th anniversary concerts. Will this be the end of Savatage or a continuation?

I don’t know. That’s a great question because so many people have asked me this. The thing about Paul O’Neill, if you know about Paul at all, is he really loves Savatage. It’s like we could very easily take 3 weeks and go run in the studio and slap something together and throw it out there and say “OK, here you go; now everyone shut up and leave us alone.” But we won’t do that. A Savatage project is a minimum 6 months. When you have the Trans-Siberian Orchestra selling out sports arenas all over the country, and all the guys in Savatage play in Trans-Siberian Orchestra, it’s just kind of hard to get everyone together to do some thing like this because you don’t want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. What we want to do is, we want to do something special. We’re talking about doing a record where we bring everybody back in that’s played in the band; Zak, Al Pitrelli, Alex Skolnick, Chris Caffery, Steve Wacholz, John, you know, everybody and do something. Whether it’s going to be a live record or it’s going to be a studio, we don’t know. I personally have been working on a DVD to accompany this for the last 2 years. It’s just compiled of thousands and thousands of hours of footage and stuff that we have that I’m about ¾ of the way done with. It’s going to be part of the package.I don’t know if it’s going to be the last thing we do or not. I don’t know. It all depends on what happens. We’re not going to settle and do something cheesy. If we’re going to do something, we want to do it the right way. We want to make it special. There is something that’s going to be done and exactly what it is, I’m not sure yet whether it’s going to be live or recorded but I know it’s going to happen in the next year or two. That’s all I can really say about it. Until then, the JOP thing for me; that’s like my thing for Savatage fans saying “look, I’m going to give you something that even Savatage can’t give you right now, which is stuff that’s co-written by Chris that’s never been heard before.” That right there, I’m hoping that what I’m doing is enough to pacify everybody until we decide to do this next thing and do it the right way. What happens after that is in the lap of the gods. You just don’t know. We’ve never officially said that the band is going to split up or anything like that. That conversation has never come across anybody’s lips. It’s been “we’ve got to attend to this right now because this is what’s going on right now” but the love of Savatage is there with everybody, it always will be. It was a very special thing. No one wants to see that go out especially not to go out without going out in style. That’s what is going to happen.

Un paio di dubbi che può risolvermi chi possiede 'Tage Mahal e Maniacal Renderings.

1) Nell'album 'Tage Mahal viene creditato Criss Oliva come songwriter in qualche brano?

2) Anche nel vostro libretto di Maniacal Renderings ci sono le stesse liner notes sia per Through The Eyes Of The King che per la title track?
Nelle note leggo che si tratta di un brano scritto anche da Criss, ma non si capisce a quale brano è veramente riferito il commento. Su wikipedia sembrerebbe si tratti della title-track, visti gli autori dei due brani (che sulla mia versione del CD non si capiscono).
Qualcuno può confermare?

Mi piace pensare che quando canta "to The Lure of The Night" e indica il cielo, indichi Criss.
Comunque apparte la voce che non ha più, l'emozione c'è sempre, e sono ansioso di leggere il libro che scriverà.
