..a meno che non si "sdoppi" con un suo clone..ahahahahah, dai raga a parte gli scherzi, ciò è materialmente IMPOSSIBILE!! (ed è questo che mi preoccupa per il "futuro" degli Exodus..)

JEFF HANNEMAN UPDATE - 5-9-13

While the details are being worked out now, Slayer wants its fans to know that there will be a celebration of Jeff Hanneman's life sometime later this month, along with Jeff's family and friends, the public will be invited to attend. More information will be posted here soon.

Kerry King and Tom Araya are trying to deal with the loss of their brother by remembering some the good times they shared.

KERRY: "I had so many great times with Jeff... in the early days when we were out on the road, he and I were the night owls, we would stay up all night on the bus, just hanging out, talking, watching movies... World War II movies, horror movies, we watched "Full Metal Jacket" so many times, we could practically recite all of the dialogue."

TOM: "When we first formed Slayer, we used to rehearse all the time, religiously, 24/7. Jeff and I spent a lot of time hanging out together, he lived in my father's garage which was also our rehearsal space. When he got his own apartment, he had an 8-track and I would go there to record songs I'd written, not Slayer songs, other stuff I'd written. At a certain point, you still have the band but you start your own lives outside of the band, so that 24/7 falls to the side, you don't spend as much time together as you once did. I miss those early days."

KERRY: "He was a gigantic World War II buff, his father served in that war, so when Slayer played Russia for the first time - I think it was 1998 - Jeff and I went to one of Moscow's military museums. I'll never forget him walking around that place, looking at all of the tanks, weapons and other exhibits. He was like a kid on Christmas morning. But that was Jeff's thing, he knew so much about WW II history, he could have taught it in school."

TOM: "We were in New York recording South of Heaven. Jeff and I were at the hotel and we had to get to the studio - I think it was called Chung King, a real rundown place. So we left the hotel and decided to walk, but then it started raining. We walked maybe five blocks, and it was raining so hard, we were totally soaked, so we decided to get a cab. Here we are, two dudes with long hair and leather jackets, absolutely soaked, thumbing to the studio. No one would stop. We had to walk the entire way."

TOM: "Jeff was a lifeline of Slayer, he wrote so many of the songs that the band will always be known for. He had a good heart, he was a good guy."

We've just learned that the official cause of Jeff's death was alcohol related cirrhosis. While he had his health struggles over the years, including the recent Necrotizing fasciitis infection that devastated his well-being, Jeff and those close to him were not aware of the true extent of his liver condition until the last days of his life. Contrary to some reports, Jeff was not on a transplant list at the time of his passing, or at any time prior to that. In fact, by all accounts, it appeared that he had been improving – he was excited and looking forward to working on a new record.

 

per tornare alla questione live, dopo che il post qua sopra ci ha spiegato qualcosa sulla recente situazione di Jeff, devo dire che ho sentito con gli auricolari questo concerto e devo dire che sono rimasto sbalordito: la voce di Araya tiene abbastanza, King si conferma sempre su buoni livelli, Holt sembra abbastanza coinvolto e Dette fa il suo porco lavoro andando perfettamente a tempo (a differenza di altri concerti precedenti, ho letto). Che facciano solo le date già programmate o no, se non altro chi andrà a vederli godrà di un buono spettacolo, secondo me.

 

Già, anche perchè non sono molto versatili come musicisti. In ogni caso io credo (e spero) che faranno tutte le date programmate del tour e poi si ritireranno.

Ma davvero? del resto la cirrosi epatica c'era qualche possibilità che fosse stata provocata dal ragno

 

dai non scherziamo sui perchè della morte...aveva una cirrosi e non sapeva di averla, e il problema al braccio stava migliorando e non vedeva l'ora di entrare in studio a registrare...e invece...

 

ma infatti io sono contentissimo di andare. Preferisco vedermi gli slayer senza jeff e dave lombardo piuttosto che non vederli affatto, perchè so che concerti come questi li rimpiangerò tra qualche anno , quando la band avrà appeso gli strumenti al chiodo. Certo non sarà la stessa cosa che vedere la band al completo, ma sono sicuro che lo show spaccherà ugualmente.

 

per me con questa perdita gli Slayer sono belli che andati.

 

Bè, sulla bellezza degli show penso che pochi abbiano da ridire qualcosa.

 

Si, anche secondo me. Solo che non sarà veramente più la stessa cosa...

 

Quoto, in effetti non credo sarò capace di partecipare.
Da una parte il dispiacere per Jeff e l'incazzatura per la gestione-affare-Lombardone, dall'altra troppi ricordi fantastici di tempi andati.
Per me rischierebbe di essere uno show molto triste e poco coinvolgente, se non per nulla.

Detto questo, posso capire chi invece sceglierà di presenziare, soprattutto i giovanissimi che non li hanno mai o quasi mai visti.

 

cmq per curiosità stavo guardando nei vari booklet dei miei cd degli slayer e stavo notando una cosa... hanneman ha scritto da solo praticamente tutte le mie canzoni preferite degli slayer (parlo della musica non dei testi) cioè pazzesco... Raining blood, postmortem, altar of sacrifice, tormentor, necrophiliac, south of heaven, war ensemble, dead skin mask, spirit in black, seasons in the abyss sono tutte sue !!!Cioè io ho sempre pensato che alla fine il duo king/hanneman scrivesse la musica del 90% dei brani..... grande stima per jeff musicalmente parlando

 

eccolo qua un altro che cade dalle nuvole ()

è veramente pazzesco quanto l'immagine e il ruolo di sparatore di cazzate, che è sempre stato appunto il ruolo di king all'interno degli slayer, possa influenzare così tanto il pensiero generale sul ruolo di un componente in una band.

e cmq come se non bastasse hai dimenticato angel of death e at dawn they sleep (che magari non saranno le tue preferite, deduco, ma sono due dei migliori pezzi degli slayer).

totale rispetto per hanneman: poche chiacchiere, tanta sostanza. esattamente il contrario di king, per il quale invece l'appellativo di "culo lardoso" assegnatogli da Flynn non mi sembra poi così inopportuno

 

Concordo in pieno come ho già scritto, pagine fa, sono curioso di ascoltare un eventuale nuovo album visto che Jeff scriveva la maggior parte della musica è finito il tempo delle chiacchere, è l'ora dei fatti, caro King

Si ma al di là del carattere di King anche lui ha scritto bei pezzi, quasi sempre con Hanneman ma a volte anche da solo. Per dirne un paio Piece By Piece e Temptation... Mica merda. Senza parlare, come già detto, di tutte quelle che hanno scritto insieme. Sono d'accordo sul fatto che Jeff sia un paio di gradini sopra, ma il contributo di Kerry è sempre stato fondamentale eh.
