"This album is a fantastic journey with a lot of stars. The sixth record of Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA is a thrilling trip through space and time. "The Mystery of Time" is an opus filled with magic and with a very special novelty, for the first time the project is joined by a real symphony orchestra. The chosen ones are the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg, which gives the ten bombastic compositions a more dynamic feeling. The importance of this step is immediately recognizable in the opening track 'Spectres' , that is clearly more exciting you could imagine: The classical, rock and metal melt into a magical, virtuoso creation- led by a haunting melody, which every Hollywood director would love to have on their movies. The 6-minute track is sung by Sammet together with former RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE vocalist Joe Lynn Turner and this gives the song an additional Classic Rock spirit. This flows seamlessly into the next song 'The Watchmaker's Dream'; another duet with the charismatic American singer and in this songs also additional guitarist wizard Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, ex-VENGEANCE) and Hammond organ player Ferdy Doernberg (AXEL RUDI PELL) are featured. The song is based on DEEP PURPLE-inspired classic rock, but in a speed style and with some musical flair. This very special feeling AVANTASIA is also build on the goose bumps track 'Black Orchid', that continues the heritage of pomp-rockers like QUEEN and MEAT LOAF.

This time Tobi Sammet chooses a s duet partner the NWOBHM legend Biff Byford of SAXON, while ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick plays the guitar. We know the ‘Hessian born’ founder of Avantasia grew up with HELLOWEEN as a teenager and Michael Kiske was always featured as a guest on any AVANTASIA album. The fast track 'Where Cold Hands Freeze' and the epic 'Dweller In A Dream' is really written for the voice of the Hamburg born Kiske with the golden voice and the magic is there immediately. With 'Sleepwalking' you can take a short break. The emotional - mostly ballad style - number has a distinctive pop appeal thanks to the great duet between Cloudy Yang and Tobias Sammet and this is another highlight of this CD.


It get epic again on the nearly 11-minute 'Savior In The Clockwork', an up-tempo track with great suspense and film score feeling. This song features Joe Lynn Turner, Biff Byford and Michael Kiske, three of the VIP guests and they start a real musical firework. Hard, yet warmly starts 'Invoke The Machine' from the speakers and the PRETTY MAIDS shouter Ronnie Atkins delivers a superb vocal performance. You can now breathe a little bit in 'What's Left Of Me', a pompous rock number with singer Eric Martin of MR. BIG as a guest, before it comes to the final showdown. 'The Great Mystery' begins melancholic, but turns out to be an exciting track to combine again all strengths of Avantasia. This songs features Joe Lynn Turner, Biff Byford and Magnum vocalist Bob Catley; Bruce Kulick additionally delivers a fantastic riff oriented guitar playing. For the second time, this is a longer than 10 minutes track which ends The Mystery of Time"."

la copertina è caruccia ma nulla di più... ma invece per il tour devono ancora confermare qualcuno o è già stato tutto annunciato? se non sbaglio dovrebbe esserci kiske, bob catley e eric martin come cantanti e amanda somerville come backing vocals, giusto?

 

Esatto, e anche Oliver Hartmann e Sascha Paeth. Gli altri musicisti e cantanti sono ancora da annunciare.

Come stile è un ritorno alle cover delle Metal Opera, al disegno a mano, e non questa cavolo di computer grafica... però boh, con un titolo simile mi aspettavo qualcosa di più epico, che questi gnomi/troll che ritrovano un qualcosa di misterioso

 

Non mi aspettavo questa accoglienza fredda! Secondo me, ed anche molti pareri letti sul web, la cover è spettacolare! Rispecchia in pieno l'atmosfera dell'album, magia, fantasia e misteri..secondo me hanno centrati l'obiettivo, e visto che sono uno di quei fan che se trovano un buon album con una copertina brutta faticano ad ascoltarlo, ben vanga questa!
PS: quel fake postato è geniale, vabbè che Tobi è un burlone ma da qui a inserire Einstein in una copertina, perdipiù Einstein cartoon

 

Pensandoci bene, l'atmosfera quasi fiabesca della cover mi ricorda il buon vecchio Jon Oliva. Ci starebbe a pennello! Peccato che non ha partecipato al nuovo album, Death Is Just A Feeling è semplicemente geniale.

 

il concept non è male ma il disegno in sè mi sembra un pò minimale e poco esaltante, risaltano pochi particolari ecco, mi sembra uscita proprio dagli anni '90

Il 30 marzo uscirà “The Mystery Of Time“, il nuovo album del progetto di Tobias Sammet Avantasia.
La stampa è concorde nel prevedere che questo sarà il migliore album della storia di Avantasia, soprattutto grazie alla quantità di special guest come Biff Byford (Saxon), Michael Kiske (Unisonic, ex-Helloween), Joe Lynn Turner (ex-Rainbow, ex-Deep Purple), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), e molti altri."Speriamo sia veramente così!"
E’ stato recentemente annunciato che un nuovo cantante farà parte di questo lavoro. Si trata di Bob Catley dei Magnum. Inoltre l’artista non solo canterà nell’album, ma seguirà Avantasia nel tour mondiale, che toccherà l’Italia con una data all’Alcatraz di Milano il prossimo 16 aprile.

oddio sinceramente mi pare difficile che possa superare la bellezza di metal opera part 1. naturalmente spero di sbagliarmi mi spiace solo che esce appena 15 giorni prima del concerto e ciò vorrà dire che avrò poco tempo per assimilarlo prima del grande show a milano

 

guardando gli ospiti e dopo gli ultimi album penso che il nuovo album sarà meno power di metal opera pt.1 pero' mai dire mai.... Al di là del genere personalmente spero solamente che sia un gran album... Visto che il 16 aprile sarò anch' io all' alcatraz a gustarmeli =D
