Beh, è possibile che facciano come anni fa, ovvero 2 date per nazione... magari!
Nel '96 se non ricordo male fecero 4 date in Italia vicinissime... madoooo'

 

Scusate ma rileggendo qualche pagina indietro permettetemi di riaprire un argomento, cioè il canto di James che è stato oggetto di critica da parte di raffomaster perfino per quanto riguarda il live shit di Seattle.

James in quel live è PERFETTO, i maestri possono dire quel che vogliono. Ma mi spieghi come avresti voluto James in quel live? Riesci ad immaginare qualcosa di meglio, un canto migliore per quel live (perchè se non è perfetto immagino che si debba avere inmente come possa essere migliore)? Io no. Se mi avessero fatto sentire solo la musica e io avrei dovuto immaginare un cantante, beh forse la mia immaginazione nemmeno riusciva a concepire un canto come quello.
Se poi hai l'orecchio assoluto e mi dici che stona (stona così poco che per chi ha l'orecchio normale è assolutamente impossibile cogliere la stonatura) posso anche crederti, ma senti, francamente il problema proprio non sussiste

Ti ricordo, rimanendo in tema di live shit, che in quel live suona Lars fino a prova contraria, quindi non credo proprio che la batteria di Justice sia stata significatamente editata dato che anche dal vivo Lars dimostra che in quel periodo era assolutamente un buonissimo batterista.



Ah poi una cosa che mi dovete spiegare è dov'è tagliata Master qui

Io non ho detto che non è bravo in quel live. Ho detto che non ha mai saputo dimostrare l'eccellente qualità canora del black album, dove sembra un cantante non dico professionista ma senza dubbio buonissimo.

Ps: Lars... se suonare bene, in tutti i live fatti, vuol dire essere estremamente impreciso e sporco, non portare mai bene il tempo neanche nelle canzoni più facili allora anche io suono bene
E invece non è così

 

Ps: master l'iniziano a tagliare nel Whenever I May Roam Tour, prima l'avevano fatta sempre intera... anche nel '96-'97 la tagliano (purtroppo!)

 

Non so se hai notato che io parlavo di live shit, non di tutti i live. In quel live per te è impreciso e non tiene il tempo? Boh...

 

Ma sentilo Lars come usava la doppia cassa a Seattle nell'89..adesso è già tanto se ne usa una

 

E che, uno diventa improvvisamente bravo in un live e tutti gli altri sono suonati male?
Certo che non tiene il tempo ed è impreciso... è sempre stato così, se non mi credi fai sentire quel (o qualsiasi) live a chitarristi o, meglio ancora, batteristi e ti dicono le stesse cose
Certo, è 3000 volte più bravo di oggi.

Toh, sentiti One del live in Mexico... li veramente mette paura col doppio pedale (qui lo riconosco, nonostante le cose che ho detto sopra)

 

Io James me lo ricordo davvero buono in questo live.
Ora, per chiarire questa diatriba infinita, sarebbe giusto decidere cosa vuol dire cantar bene per uno show dei Metallica.
Se significa cantar bene in assoluto, non canta e non canterà mai bene.
Se al contrario si intende fare quello che fa James durante un concerto (suona la ritmica come pochi altri, calamita l'attenzione del pubblico, lo coinvolge, carica e aizza, ed in più canta come può) allora sì, canta bene, o almeno in quel periodo cantava alla grande.
In più bisognerebbe sottolineare la grande differenza nell'approccio di pezzi come Nothing o Mama Said e Creepin' o Battery. Npn è così semplice spostarsi tra i due piani diverse volte in un paio d'ore.

Si può quotare un moderatore quando non fa il moderatore?

Comunque mi trovo abbastanza daccordo con Acid, però vorrei porre l'accento sull'uso di RAFFO della parola "professionista"... Cosa intendi? Che sappia cantare di tutto, che sia completo, che sappia cantare lo spartito, o semplicemente che campi di musica?

No perchè spesso sono le parole che generano confusione!

Listening to ‘Death Magnetic’ at Metallica HQ

With Metallica’s album “Death Magnetic” just two weeks away from its Sept. 12 release date, the folks at Metallica HQ are inviting journalists over to get a sneak preview of the Rick Rubin-produced opus. So of course I loaded “Master of Puppets” onto my iPod and took the 90-minute trek up to Marin County to have a listen and take a look around the digs.
From the outside, Metallica HQ in San Rafael is an utterly unremarkable building. The only evidence of what’s inside comes on a recycling bin out front, on which the words “& heavy metal” have been added after the words “aluminum and tin.” Once inside, you’re in a quiet, organized office where folks are plugging away, working on the Web site or updating the fan club list or shipping out merch (apparently Metallica onesies are a hot item right now).
I got a tour from Vickie Strate, who runs the place, and we got to check out the kitchen where the band eats, the room where the band rehearses, even the place where the band’s kids play “Guitar Hero.” Everywhere you look, there’s amazing stuff. Fan-made banners from around the world cover the walls of the practice space. A Neil Young-autographed Bridge School poster greets you as you enter the kitchen. And the kitchen itself — the actual location where Lars and James threw hissy fits in the documentary “Some Kind of Monster”! Kick-ass!
Even the john is awesome. Concert photo of the Who, autographed by Pete Townshend? Check. Backstage pic of Metallica with the Stones? Check. Cel from Metallica’s guest appearance on “The Simpsons”? Check. Vintage Captain Beefheart concert flier? Yup. I could have spent all day in there, but eventually even the remarkably friendly and patient bunch at HQ said I had to come out and listen to the CD.
So after confiscating my laptop, my iPod, my cell phone, my belt buckle and my shoelaces, they set me up on a big, comfy leather couch in the studio’s control room, and engineer Kent Matcke let ‘er rip.
A disclaimer: When “Ride the Lightning” came out, I was listening to “Reckoning.” And when the Black Album came out, I was listening to “Girlfriend” and “The Low End Theory.” The only time I’ve seen Metallica live they were strumming acoustics on Motown songs and Garbage covers. So I can’t give you an in-depth track-for-track analysis, revealing exactly how each song fits into the Metallica ouevre. (But this guy can.)
I can, however, report that this album rocks. And those who hated “St. Anger” will be pleased to know that, as recorded by Rubin, Lars Ulrich’s drums sound like drums, not garbage can lids, and that the guitar solo has returned. A lot of the songs are epics, with multiple sections and shifting grooves.
The first song, “That Was Just Your Life,” begins with the sound of a beating heart followed by an instrumental passage that gradually, ominously builds for two minutes before James Hetfield starts singing.
Track 2, “The End of the Line,” is even more of an epic. When you think the song has wound down, Hetfield starts crooning “the slave becomes the master,” and then the whole thing fires up again for a big conclusion. This was one of my favorites.
The next one is “Broken, Beat and Scarred,” on which Hetfield awkwardly sings “What don’t kill you made you more strong.” Who says “more strong”? Not Kanye, for sure. If you care about Metallica, you’ve probably heard the new single “The Day That Never Comes” already. If not, you can hear it here. It starts with a trebly guitar figure, and the band takes their foot off the gas a bit, for a few verses, anyway. Seems to be about a prisoner, either actual or metaphorical. A good one.
“All Nightmare Long” and “Cyanide” crank things back up again, with the latter sure to appall the same people freaked out by Ozzy’s “Suicide Solution.” “The Unforgiven III” begins with, of all things, a piano, with subtly swelling strings and a hint of French horn. Hetfield gets croony on this one too and, according to my notes, sounded like Billie Joe Armstrong for a second. “The Judas Kiss” is a pummeling rocker that apparently has something to do with hybrid cars. “Sanctify your demons/Into a Prius,” Hetfield sings. At least I think that’s what he says; they wouldn’t give me a lyrics sheet. “Suicide & Redemption” is an instrumental that gives new bass man Robert Trujillo a chance to shine. It’s got some moments of hard-won beauty, but it may go on a tad too long before fading out. Not bad, though. By the time the closing “My Apocalypse” ended, my neck was sore from head-banging.
Anyway, it was a most interesting afternoon and the people at HQ were extraordinarily nice. I’m just sorry Kirk Hammett wasn’t around to play a game of “Guitar Hero.” Maybe next time …
