Gamma Ray

Boh... nell'articolo linkato a dire il vero non si parla nemmeno di studi di registrazione, dicono solo che è andato a fuoco un edificio...

 

Ma i cd dei Gamma Ray sono così introvabili? No perché ne ho visti alcuni usati in vendita a prezzi assurdi....

 

no, gli studi (che passavano coi nomi di "hammer studio" o "high gain studio") erano di proprietà di kai, dirk e di un certo Eike Freese (che mi sa che suona nei dark age), e non erano solo gli studi dei gamma ray, ma erano una sorta di polo musicale della scena metal di amburgo, con sale prove, magazzini ecc ecc a cui potevano accedere tutte le band della città.

il problema è che per i gamma quegli studi erano una grossa fonte di sostentamento, perchè oltre a registrarci i loro dischi, ci lavoravano per conto terzi (vedesi il già citato live dei deep purple che è stato mixato li, e altri millemila dischi registrati a millemila band famose e non), ed avevano li tutta la loro roba, sia dal punto di vista della strumentazione, sia tutto ciò che riguarda l'attività live (scenografie, backdrop ecc ecc) e tutti i memorabilia raccolti da kai e dai gamma in 25 anni di carriera (ovvero dischi d'oro, gli artwork originali dei dischi, i master ecc ecc). pensate che probabilmente l'80% delle chitarre e degli ampli di kai sono bruciati, stesso discorso per hejo e dirk.....

 

p.s il fanclub semi-ufficiale dei gamma ha organizzato un conto paypal a cui è possibile fare delle donazioni. hanno un progetto interessante che vi riporto qui:

You all know what happened to the Hammer Studios, I’m sure. But let me recapitulate:
A huge fire, that broke out on Monday and couldn’t be extinguished till at least Tuesday, utterly destroyed Gamma Ray’s studios. Nothing is left but ashes and debris. Not only did many bands lose all of their equipment, but Gamma Ray lost many an item of probably low monetary, but high sentimental value, and especially Kai lost a collection of guitars and other musical memorabilia whose sentimental value is most likely immeasurable.

Equipment can be bought anew. But the memories that burned on Monday cannot ever be regained.

I don’t know about you, but I – apart from wanting to cry – want to help. I want to do something, anything, to help.

Now, you know about the different FB pages that have sprung to life, fueled by people’s desperate will to help. For me, it’s a sort of ‘faith in humanity restored’ thing, really, to see how people are ready to give for free something they would sell otherwise, or how they go out of their way to provide studios, instruments, donation concerts… but all this stuff is for people from Hamburg and close-by cities.

So what can we do?

You can donate, as soon as there is an official donation account. Or, and that’s the question I have for you, we can do something as fanclub.

And here comes the thing: I have a plan. A crazy plan. A brilliantly crazy plan.

The plan is to do something of more ideational value. Don’t get me wrong, donating money is great, but it’s not only money that the Rayz lost, the greater loss is the little things that held memories. And there are already so many people donating money… I think that we as Gamma Ray fanclub could and maybe should do something different.

And here comes the plan:
We could gather money and buy a guitar that stands symbolically for the great collection of guitars lost to the flames. We could have “And we rise like phoenix from the ashes” on the guitar… maybe our logo, if you would like that… and if we manage to raise a lot of money, we could not only get Kai a symbolical guitar, but also a bass and a guitar for Dirk and Henjo. Just as a symbolical starting point, the guitar(s) don’t even have to be (very) good, it’s the thought that counts.
Of course, if we raise a lot of money, we can get them better instruments. I have done a rough juggling with numbers, and if for example 300 people (we’re more than that) donate about 20 Euros each, we can get each of them a guitar for 2000 Euros. (Please note that this is not the amount of money I'm going for. It's just to point out that even with every person making only a small donation a great sum can come together.)
And I thought that since I want to do Fanclub shirts anyway, everyone who donates would get – not a shirt unfortunately, because the costs would be too great for me – a shirt design that shows that he or she donated. So everyone could make himself/herself a shirt or a sleeveless or a jumper…
What do you think?
Personally, I would love to do that, to show the guys that we, their fans, take part in their loss. And let’s face it: If you donate just the money, that helps and is a great thing, but no one knows you helped.

Cazzo

Mi dispiace non poter donare nulla perché non ho soldi manco io, spero solo che in qualche modo riescano a rimettersi in piedi.
Però mi sorge un sospetto, che mi auguro sia dovuto solo alla mentalità italiana: non so a voi, ma a me questo incendio puzza di doloso.

 

Però non avevano un impianto anti-incendio? Possibile che se ne siano accorti troppo tardi????? ...

 

O non lo avevano (ma mi sembra stranissimo, in tutta Europa ci sono delle norme ben precise a questo proposito) o ha funzionato male. I pompieri sono stati allertati da uno degli abitanti della zona che aveva visto del fumo denso e delle fiamme nei pressi dell'edificio.

 

Si vede che avevano una buona assicurazione e gli servivano soldi in fretta...
