Le liste di Dustx85 - approfondimento sul metal

Pensa che stavo sistemando la lista del 1990 e nonostante i 50 titoli presumo che @The Transgressor avrà di che dire.
Per esempio gli Psychotic Waltz sono una grave esclusione?

Il grunge no, perché come dice @Dwight Fry nel libro ha rovinato il metal... Ehm scherzo..
Comunque lo terrei fuori ugualmente. Ero tentato di inserire quelli più metal Friendly (Alice e Soundgarden) ma poi ho deciso per il no. Restano in ballo invece Earth e Melvins che non ho mai considerato della scena..

Però (c'è sempre un però), come ho scritto, dipende: il progressive metal, se lo allarghiamo a tutto è molto vasto e comprende vari periodi, stili, sottogeneri: il power-prog iniziale, il prog metal classico "puro" (tecnico e/o melodico-sinfonico), il prog-thrash, prog-death, alternative prog, l'avantgarde metal e il metal sperimentale in generale, il mathcore e il prog metalcore, djent.

Considera tutto questo in un contesto generale di heavy metal, quindi con tutto il resto

Ci sono vari gradi di importanza, gli Psychotic Waltz hanno avuto sicuramente un loro ruolo importante nello sviluppo del prog metal classico, power-prog, technical metal. Comunque l'esordio, come il secondo disco, te lo segnalerei sicuramente. Certo, prima vedo la dimensione concreta della lista, ma credo di sì.

 

Abbastanza amche secondo me...

Ripensaci... Nel senso, che escludendo magari le origini (Green River ecc.) e i gruppi secondari (Gruntruck, My Sister's Machine), ci sono alcuni dischi molto validi sia on territorio rock/hard tipo Mother Love Bone o Temple of the Dog, sia metal tipo Louder Than Love (alquanto sabbatthiano) e Badmotorfinger... E te lo dice uno che in quegli anni non sopportava più il grunge...

Personalmente escluderei tranquillamente invece i Melvins e gli Earth (sperando di non offendere nessuno eh... )

 

Concordo su quello che dici perché li conosco bene quei dischi, ma in ogni caso hanno un approccio più rock che metal. Anche i Mother Love Bone per quanto glam o i Temple, piuttosto che gli Screaming trees non li metterei vicino nemmeno ai Guns n roses.. Magari mi sbaglio eh..

 

Io personalmente Burning Star lo includerei, specie se poi inseriremo per dirne uno Refuge Denied dell'88, su cui mi pare abbia avuto influenza, quindi direi che una discreta rilevanza per la scena US power ce l'ha, anche visto l'anno in questione (con il thrash appena nato, che altre band erano così cattivelle anche a livello vocale? Metal Church, Savatage e poco altro...)
Ma c'è da dire che gli altri non li conosco

Poi, solo per chiarire, con il riferimento all'hard, intendevo il rock/hard anni '70, non l'hard dei G'n'R

Pazienza mi toccherà martellarti di solo street e thrash...

 

Per me per il 1984 avete detto tutto, nel 1985 inizierà la battaglia a suon di glam, thrash e heavy classico

 

@Dustx85 a questo giro non posso esserti d'aiuto, conosco solo la metà dei dischi in ballo e uno di questi non è certo tra i miei preferiti del gruppo in questione. Passo direttamente al 1985.

 

Penso di avere abbastanza voti. Più tardi pubblicherò il resoconto e la nuova lista.

 

A che annata sei in questo momento (per quanto riguarda gli ascolti)?

Allora, lista più lunga del previsto ma sono sempre dolori togliere qualcosa... L'ultimo "spareggio" ha visto rientrare comunque 4 album sui 3 max che volevo salvare...
Mi sono preso una licenza d'autore e ho ingiallito pure Powerslave dei Maiden anche se non rientrava nei voti dell'en plein.. ero tentato anche di farlo col primo dei Metal Church ma è comunque grassettato e va bene ugualmente.
