A few words from our frontman Francesco Paoli:

“It’s official, we’re finally back in the studio and it feels absolutely great! This past year marked a new era for the band, so we felt the need to look back at our Death Metal roots and, at the same time, to push ourselves beyond our limits, reaching a wider level of variety and influences within the songs. We wanted this album to be fierce but also organic and unpredictable, as if it had a life on its own. That’s why we decided to involve several guest musicians, a full classical string section and even a choir!

"We’re also incredibly excited to work with legendary producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION, ABORTED, EPICA) for the first time. He’s the man behind so many amazing metal records and definitely one of our favorite producers at the moment. On my side, being back as the frontman also means this is my last chance to record drums on a FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE record and this awareness actually inspired me so much while writing the parts. I really think this album will be a true landmark for me, as a drummer."

The Apocalypse is set for Spring 2019.

Italian orchestral-death metal and renaissance revivalists FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE will make their triumphant return this year with the release of their 5th studio album, VELENO, on MAY 24TH with NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. Today, the band has unveiled the record’s debut single, “SUGAR,” via a music video, the album artwork and tracklisting. Francesco Paoli Official on working with director Giovanni Bucci:
“I met Giovanni Bucci a couple of years ago, while collaborating on his own band ODDKO. We soon became good friends, so we started talking about having him as director for Fleshgod’s new videos. He is a true visionary, with amazing directing and production skills. He’s been making music videos for bands like Korn, and he also has a shining career in the movie industry. We all agreed that he would’ve been the key to a huge step forward for us, visually and artistically, especially on a video like this, which was also extremely complex to produce and shoot. The result is on your screen now, and it's better than any description.

Italian for venom, VELENO marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record King (2016). The “metal part” of VELENO was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the “orchestral part”—the ensembles—were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of VELENO took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Seempieces - The Art of Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

ottimo pezzo mi piace molto, si stanno ammorbidendo col passare di ogni album ma la qualità è sempre eccellente. Poi mi piace molto la copertina del disco e la scelta di mettere un titolo in italiano

 

Ho ascoltato "Sugar" adesso per la prima volta

Sicuramente, come per tante altre cose, è una canzone destinata a crescere con gli ascolti, ma non so se e quando sarò spinto ad ascoltare l'album

Della canzone mi è piaciuta tanto la parte che c'è a metà, quella tipicamente black metal sinfonico, che si ripete poi più avanti, mentre l'attacco forse funzionerà più dal vivo che in studio

 

A sentir la canzone direi di no, via finalmente chili di orchestrazioni inutili a favore di un giro più leggero e meno invadente e all'assolo di chitarra.

bello il videoclip e bella la canzone. Ma visto l'ultimo grandioso king mi aspetto un altro grande album

Video stupendo: un connubbio grandioso tra musica e immagini.

Un brano molto immediato per i loro standard, eppure ad ogni ascolto colgo nuovi elementi... davvero notevole.

Forse il pezzo in tremolo-picking un po' troppo Carach Angren.
