un QUINTUPLO box-cd con TRE ALBUM (semi nuovi) e due re-release????

 

Praticamente dice due album inediti, uno con pezzi vecchi orchestrali e le due riedizioni. Sicuramente fatto cantato e suonato tutto da lui, qui c'è da tremare.

 

Almeno su EMP si sono degnati di metterlo ad un prezzo decente, 25 euro. Per 5 cd ci può stare (se poi i 3 di inediti faranno cagare è un altro discorso)

 

"Inediti" più o meno, la tracklist include comunque tante "orchestral version" o cose così ... una "battle mix (????) version" di The Burning of Rome di cui tutti certo sentivamo la mancanza.

Il cd-2 ha VENTISEI tracce. VENTISEI.

 

E niente set di pentole omaggio ai primi 20 che telefonano?

5 euro a cd... si vede che ci credono un casino in questa release, eh.

 

Per me Defeis ha tantissima confusione in testa. Se i 3 cd di inediti saranno simili all'album precedente (e da titoli e artwork la sensazione è quella) dovrebbero pagare la gente per ascoltarli, e non il contrario.

ps: ad esempio ho notato un brano dal titolo "Justine"... visto che immagino sia ispirato da de Sade, chissà se avrà un testo fantastico come quello di Delirium...

 

In battle mix e In fury mix li aveva già usati come termini, comunque l'ideale sarebbe che riprendesse Frank alla batteria e che cantasse senza stridolii, qualcosa di buono può ancora farlo. Alla fine già che fa uscire qualcosa è buon segno, gli si vuole troppo bene.

 

L'ultimo album non é brutto pur non essendo ai livelli a cui ci hanno abituato. Pecca nella prolissità (alcuni pezzi meno riusciti erano ampiamente evitavili a fronte di un minutaggio più compatto e snello), nella mancanza di una batteria vera ed ovviamente nel cantato.
Secondo me questa release ha un senso: ristampano le due raccolte (Book e Hymns) e ci aggiungono molto materiale bonus così come hanno fatto in tutta quest'opera di ristampa della spv.
Potvano ristamparli spezzati con qualche bonus a 15 euro caduno. Se il prezzo, invece, é veramente di soli 25 euro ci stá tutta un operazione del genere.
Sullo stile dei pezzi bonus é chiaro, vedendo quanto di analogo sulle precedenti ristampe, che non si discosteranno dalle produzioni recenti.

 

Boh, per me anche volendo ignorare i difetti che giustamente tu evidenzi (che non sono roba da poco, visto che parliamo di heavy metal e non di una one-man band black metal) rimangono una 50ina di minuti buoni sui quasi 160 della versione deluxe; poi come immagino saprai, due dei brani migliori sono rifacimenti di quelli scritti per il progetto Exorcist...
Per il discorso delle bonus, in effetti anche io ho sempre scritto che queste ristampe sono molto oneste e fatte con le migliori intenzioni perchè Defeis cerca di riempirle sempre di quanto più materiale possibile... però il problema è la qualità, senza contare che poi spesso vengono messe un po' a caso. Alla fine, di tutti questi brani usciti dal 2011 a oggi, io mi ritrovo ad ascoltare solo A Greater Burning Of Innocence e alcune delle tracce bonus acustiche di Invictus...

 

Mah dato il prezzo, la copertina o il booklet che dir si voglia, diciamo che ci si può stare.... sarei curioso di ascoltare le cosiddette versioni orchestrali.... non vorrei che fosse solo l'aggiunta di un po' di campionamenti come purtroppo temo!

 

Potrebbe andare peggio, potrebbe averle risuonate interamente riempiendole di miagolii

 

se non ricordo Dave già svariati anni addietro blaterava di avere parecchio materiale da pubblicare...magari sono cose scritte anni fa e registrate solo oggi...speriamo che rinsavisca e si sia fatto dare una mano anche da Pursino...

US Metal legends VIRGIN STEELE will release "Seven Devils Moonshine" on November 23, 2018 a special 5 CD box-set for their 35th anniversary.

Founder and mastermind David DeFeis explains the whole box-set:

“Cheers, Greetings & Salutations Dear Ever Faithful Eternal Metal Listeners and Friends of the Musical Realm & Written Word Domain! I am putting pen to paper today to inform you all about what we have been doing over the past year and what this Box-Set you are now holding in your hands is all about, its backstory…how we arrived here at this place, and perhaps a bit more about where we might be heading.

As some of you may know we have been re-issuing the VIRGIN STEELE Catalogue bit by bit over the past several years, and in doing so we have consistently been adding copious amounts of Bonus Material to accompany all these various re-issue offerings. The last two albums scheduled as part of the re-issue campaign we began, are the albums: THE BOOK OF BURNING & HYMNS TO VICTORY. When those two albums first appeared they were released simultaneously, therefore we thought why not once again issue them at the exact same time, but…this time let’s include a brand new album and create a kind of Box Set package. Well…once we began planning and recording for such an endeavor we very soon accumulated far more material than what could possibly fit on one disc…so…we thought OK fine…we’ll plan on releasing two new discs chock full of new material to go along with these last two re-issues…and…shortly after that decision was made, we managed to record even more new material, so now we have in addition to the two re-issues, (which by the way do contain one bonus track each), well Friends we now have actually three brand new discs of VS material included within this special Box Set release!

I wish to stress the fact that what we have done here with our Box Set is include 3 brand new albums, not bundle in merely a collection of old bonus tracks we had hanging around for ages and ages… These 3 new discs contain either brand new original songs written and recorded within just these past few months, or brand new re-written covers of songs that we enjoy and felt could be re-cast in the VS style, or…new recordings of classic VS material done either in a special orchestral type setting or stripped way down and re-imagined in vastly different form. Again at the risk of repetition…these aren’t tracks that have been sitting around in the vaults waiting…these are all newly recorded tracks completed specifically for this particular Box Set release. I don’t know if anyone has ever done this kind of thing before, but we felt that for us it was absolutely necessary to do this, and it makes perfect sense for where we are…at this moment.

OK Friends with glass in hand as is only proper as proprietor of the Vineyard, I shall be your guide to this Netherworld and I shall discuss and try to reveal a bit of something about the “Spirit” and “Flavor” of each of the 5 Discs contained within this Epic Box Set we call: SEVEN DEVILS MOONSHINE.”

Sì sì, questo è vero, c'è margine di speranza e può anche darsi ch..

... ah, no, scherzavo.

 

Non credo arrivi a 'sto livello.... purtroppo credo che "orchestral version" non significhi ci sia una vera orchestra dietro come per esempio gli Epica fanno da un paio di album a questa parte ma credo, ahimè, ci sarà un massiccio uso di sintetizzatori!

 

Hype sotto zero, non lo compreró. Puó anche aggiungere altri 5 cd allo stesso prezzo ma non attacca.
Se ha del materiale valido lo organizzi bene e faccia uscire un album serio (e "suonato" per davvero) invece di questo bustone raffazzonato.
