Testament

Per me è perfetto così il brano. Non sento la mancanza dell'assolo.

 

Sempre le stesse cose...

 

Sarebbe perfetto su di un qualsiasi album dei "Fear Factory".. (o "quasi perfetto" , data l'assenza della componente "industrial" dei suddetti )

 

Eh alura, porta pasiensa.......

 

Punti di vista. Per me la cazone funziona benissimo così, a prescindere dal fatto che sia dei Testament.

 

Ho un déjà vu
Comunque fu data ampia libertà agli artisti, se Murphy non si sbizzarrì è perché probabilmente pensava che andasse bene non farlo.

 

Non scherziamo! Down For Life è stupenda così com'è! Una delle mie canzoni preferite dei Testament, non che un attentato alla mia patente quando parte.

 

Dovrei riprenderlo ma così su due piedi oltre ai primi tre pezzi, The Persecuted Won't Forget ed Henchmen Ride c'è poco altro che mi abbia lasciato qualcosa in quel disco...

Eyes Of Wrath mi piace moltissimo, al massimo la sostituirei con Allegiance che non mi ha mai detto molto, comunque mi sto rendendo conto di avere gusti particolari quando si tratta dei nuovi Testament

 

Questo però a me non risulta, perdonami. Mi risulta invece che gli assoli - pochi, e neanche tutto 'sto gran che - li abbia suonati quasi tutti Peterson, e Murphy sia stato chiamato solo dopo che il disco era già stato composto e a sessioni di registrazione quasi ultimate. Murphy potè solo ritagliarsi un po' di spazio aggiungendo degli 'outro solo' in coda a due o tre pezzi, ed è tutto.

 

Già....

 

Sono andato a spulciare un'intervista che ricordavo a tratti. Sicuramente non c'era ampia libertà come si può fraintendere da quello che ho scritto, però una volta recepite le intenzioni di Eric e Chuck, loro hanno agito di conseguenza ma senza snaturarsi.
Mi riferisco a questa parte dell'intervista:

"Eric: Dave was actually a big part of it. He wasn't a part of the writing but he was definitely there when it went down. And of course he puts his sound into it. Steve and James came into it when it was done. Steve added a lot. When I just explained to him what was going on in the song, of course he would stay to the guidelines but play it the way he plays...which is what we did it's just like with Murphy. It's like ok here's where you play and he'd do something and we'd kind of work on it and mould it in so it fit the song."

Praticamente quando dice "play it the way he plays" riferendosi prima a Steve e poi a Murphy, intendeva dire che hanno suonato come volevano, con il rispetto delle linee guida.

Are you playing any leads on this CD?

Eric:Oh yeah, it's kind of half/half I guess. I think James is doing four of them and I'm doing three and then the other ones just don't have leads - "DNR" and "Down For Life" just rock on.

MR:
Do you enjoy playing lead or do you prefer the rhythm thing?

Eric:I like both. It depends on what the song calls for. Like "DNR", where would you put a solo at? The rhythms are pretty much a solo hahah.

MR:
That's kind of a song where when it's over you don't even realize there wasn't a solo. It didn't beg for one ya know...

Eric:
Exactly, and the songs that called for it is like this part's kind of long there's a part that just goes on so we thought why not let Murphy do something there.

Praticamente anche Murphy ha suonato degli assoli, se li sono spartiti.
Magari mi sbaglio, però in quei punti dove doveva suonare, mi pare di capire che Murphy ebbe una certa libertà di movimento, sempre rispettando la volontà degli altri due.
