Rush

Non sono così fan da conoscere le parti strumentali di ognuno dei componenti, ma come suona Benante mi fa impazzire. Nel senso, non so se segue esattamente quello che suonava Neil o ci mette del suo, però rimango affascinato da questi video.
E pensare che gli Anthrax non gli ascolto mai..
Ah comunque il cantante è un bel clone di Geddy

 

È un clone bravo però! La voce di Geddy Lee è molto particolare e il più delle volte che sento una cover dei Rush, chi canta è portato a sforzarsi di imitarlo. Questo tizio invece sembra molto credibile, non è da tutti. Tra l'altro c'è anche un pezzetto di Tom Sawyer, così, tanto per gradire.

 

Anch'io l'ho conosciuto grazie a questi video di Benante. Non seguo i Suicidal Tendencies da anni, però mi ricordo che Mike Muir ha l'abitudine di circondarsi di musicisti ottimi. Oltre ai pezzi dei Rush ha partecipato anche a una cover dei Living Colour, insomma roba da niente eh

 

Nono infatti è parecchio bravo, veramente.
Sono tutti musicisti talmente preparati che alla fine quello più in ombra mi sembra Skolnick, e ho detto tutto

Toccante ricordo di Neil, da parte dell'amico e collega dei Police:

Stewart Copeland recalled the last time he saw his friend Neil Peart before the Rush drummer’s death in January.
The friends gathered for Peart’s birthday in September 2019. At the time news of his cancer diagnosis remained a secret, although he’d been unwell for several years.
“He still had his dignity,” Copeland told Rolling Stone in a new interview. “You could tell he was appreciating to still be here, but you could see it was beginning to take its toll. It went from not great to really bad very quickly. It was a gradual, gradual impairment. Socially, he was still Neil. He was still the Doctor, still the Professor. Still Neptune on high! But he said, ‘I’m not getting on my motorcycles again and I’m not getting on a drum set anytime again.’ And those were disappointments to him, but he was still glad to be here.”
Former Police drummer Copeland described Peart as “a really good friend and a unique character,” adding: “When he first passed, I was pleased for him, because [the illness] was a two-to-three-year process. At one point during it, he said, ‘Look, I’m a year past my sell-by date. I’m still here.’ And then another year went by. So when he passed, my first thought was, he had an incredible life. What a great way to go out. He saw his train coming and he got a first-class seat. That’s him.
“Then comes me, thinking, ‘Wait a minute. He’s not there anymore. I can’t call him up anymore.’ I started to just miss him. I just wish he was back. Like, ‘That was really cool, Neil! Wow! You really aced it there, buddy! OK, you can come back now.’ And that’s the part that sticks with me. I just wish he was here.”

In the wee hours of this morning our dear friend and super talented musician, songwriter, and producer of two Rush albums, Presto and Roll The Bones, sadly passed away.

Roop was always such an upbeat, unflappable and all around lovely “chap” to work with and to be around. His influence on our music and on our attitude towards enjoying life was profound and he shall be sorely missed by so many.

There are still many of his very “British” expressions that have made their way permanently into our lexicon and we can see his smiling face and the twinkle in his eye whilst saying, “Jolly D!!”

RIP dear “Roop”…We love you man!
