La sto ascoltando per l'ennesima volta in questo momento...giuro che mi sto commuovendo come non mi era mai successo prima

 

forse perche', in 20 anni, non hanno mai dato una vera svolta alla loro carriera? Bad Karma

Io lo scorso anno li ho visti suonare davanti a 45 persone...che senso ha?

 

Se è vero quello che dice Loomis (e mi sa tanto che lo è, vista la differenza fra This godless endeavor, il solista suo e quello di Dane e The obsidian conspiracy), questa decisione era inevitabile e, mi duole dirlo, sacrosanta.
Dane ha voluto fare un doppione del suo solista, imponendo al gruppo il fido Wichers come produttore. Se poi Wichers ha pure messo il becco nel songwriting, ci credo che a Jeff e Van siano girate le scatole. Come dire "Ah, è così? Vuoi decidere tu dell'indirizzo musicale e dell'impronta del sound del gruppo? Ok, fallo pure, ma senza di noi. Vediamo di cosa sei capace."
Se è andata così, mi spiace, ma non ho nulla da eccepire.

Anzi, non mi dispiace proprio per niente. Se il connubio Dane-Wichers era destinato a portare alla rovina un gruppo della classe e delle potenzialità dei Nevermore, meglio chiudere questa pagina e aprirne un'altra.

Chiudo con una riflessione: brutta cosa quando un produttore si intromette nella vita artistica di una band imponendo le sue idee. Bob Rock ci ha rovinato i Metallica, ora Wichers ha contribuito pesantemente alla fine prematura dei Nevermore.

comunque la notizia mi lascia abbastanza indifferente perchè l'ultimo disco lo reputo mediocre ...

 

Bellissimo questo post di un utente del forum ufficiale. La penso nello stesso modo:

well this is absolutely devastating news for me. Nevermore was a huge part of my life. My fucking MEMORIES from the past 7 years of my life involve Nevermore. everywhere i went in the world, yes the fucking world, I ALWAYS had them with me. THey kept me fucking sane. I was depressed I was fucked up I was fucking miserable and they were the fucking cure. They kept me fucking stable Fuck I can't even explain it. Whoever posted that plea to the band to sort it out, saying you take music very seriously.....so do I. Very seriously and this is absolutely fucking garbage.

And the fucking band is done. No that isnt a knock on WD, he's a fucking genius but Nevermore simply CANNOT exist without Jeff. This is due to the simple fact that the combination of Jeff's writing and WD's vocal melodies on top of it cannot and will not ever be matched. No band in history has had more raw fucking talent in that dynamic between singer/guitarist. the band might continue but it wont be the same. we all know this. without Jeff Loomis there is NO FUCKING NEVERMORE

Is it unreasonable to say that I want answers? I want to know WHY. For once, just one time, I want a band to fucking come clean. I dont want a fucking press release saying 'oh the time has come due to internal tensions in the band...' blah blah fucking horse shit. No, I want to know WHAT THE FUCK the tension is that could have actually caused them to leave the fucking band. I just want one fucking band, one time in history to actually spill the fucking truth out. I NEED TO KNOW WHY. I think the fans deserve it. We've been diehard. I flew to the fucking DVD show in Germany from Boston and the show was canceled. I had to fly home in the negative. I FUCKING FLEW BACK A MONTH LATER FOR THE SHOW. other fans have done similar stuff. I talked to people who drove like 30 hours from east bum fuck Europe just to go to that fucking show, or any god damned show they played. Seriously, what the fuck could have happened? They released TGE and took like 5 years off and did their own thing. Now, less than two years later, Jeff and Van fucking leave the band? Did someone fuck someone's wife or something? Honestly? WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED.

This cannot be the end. Nevermore was special ...they weren't just better than other bands, They destroyed other metal bands. No one comes close. They're too fucking talented. What an absolute fucking waste. I am shocked Mr. Loomis is apparently Mr Ego now. Honestly. I've met the guy a fucking lot. I had beers with him and Van before a show, just us three. One of my best memories ever, just shooting the shit. He was fucking humble even when I had to ass kiss for two seconds and tell him his playing is out of this world. He was fucking appreciative. Van was just as cool. Nice guy, no ego. Of course I don't know the guys like wd or Jim or even their close friends. But the impressions they gave off were those of pretty decent guys. im sad. fuck it.

 

Non saprei, ma stare uniti per venti anni, come una famiglia, e poi esplodere così... E' difficile trovare una ragione o più ragioni, ma io escluderei a priori la causa 'economica'. I Nevermore sono stati un gruppo sempre umile e passionale. Se fosse stato per i soldi, avrebbero rinunciato secoli fa perchè non sono mai stati un gruppo 'mainstream' (in tutti i sensi, guadagni inclusi)

Screzi personali? Possibilissimi, d'altronde le passate dichiarazioni di Dane e Loomis sono piuttosto chiare

Routine? Poco probabile

Mancanza di motivazioni? O, forse, 'affossamento delle motivazioni' nel caso specifico di Loomis?

 

Davvero un peccato, si rompe dopo tanti anni un sodalizio che ci ha permesso di ascoltare dei capolavori. spero solo che la storia si chiuda qui, senza rimpasti...Loomis non è sostituibile!

 

Il post che hai riportato è tristemente sincero, mi sento di condividerlo, anche se non crederò mai alla favolina (che ora comincerà a circolare) riguardo al presunto egocentrismo di Jeff. Ho avuto la fortuna di passare qualche momento con lui ed è sempre stato una persona umilissima, estremamente disponibile... down to earth per dirla tutta. Non ci crederei mai.

Una svolta decisiva alla loro carriera l'hanno data nel 2000, i tempi sono cambiati e non esiste una band delle ultime generazioni che può ambire a certi pienoni come succedeva negli anni '80. Mi sembra che un certo successo l'abbiano raggiunto (l'esempio che riporti tu lo considero un episodio casuale... dov'eri?), i problemi a mio parere sono altri.

 

Beh è poi la sua versione, a pelle mi verrebbe da fidarmi più del contrario.
